Participation Mechanisms and Practices in
EuropE

For the voice of children and young people to go beyond the local and national levels, it is essential to connect with platforms operating at a European level. This section features the main initiatives that allow children and young people from Catalonia and the rest of Spain to participate in and influence European Union policies.

EU Children's Participation Platform (EU CPP)

Launched by the European Commission, it is the main initiative for children and young people to express their opinions and influence European Union laws and policies. The ICPN project seeks to strengthen and create synergies with this platform.

workplan

The EU CPP's 2025-2026 Work Plan  aims to integrate children's voices into European policies. It focuses on four key areas: equal opportunities and social inclusion, online safety, mental health and well-being, and climate action. This plan, developed with the participation of children, includes consultations and visits in 2025 and 2026 to ensure their impact on EU decisions. Important documents will also be simplified for children.

Eurochild

A network of organisations that promotes children's rights and well-being at a European level. Through its own children's participation group (the Eurochild Children's Council), it involves children and young people in its policy advocacy work with EU institutions.
